The A.M. Qattan Foundation Announces Its Strategic Framework for 2026-2030

The A.M. Qattan Foundation announces the adoption of its Strategic Framework for 2026-2030 as part of its ongoing institutional development and enduring commitment to long-term work, aiming to more effectively address the critical needs of Palestine’s cultural and educational landscapes.

This Strategic Framework is both the product of and a response to this critical moment in our history, perhaps more complex and uncertain than ever: It is shaped by systems of occupation, erasure, and displacement, as well as forms of constraint impacted far beyond Palestine's geographical borders. In this context, the Foundation has decided against creating a traditional, standardised strategic plan. Instead, it will develop a living strategy—a participative, adaptive overarching framework constantly attentive to changes on the ground and based on experimentation, community learning, and ongoing debate.

This approach reaffirms the Foundation's mission and values, which have shaped its identity since its inception: to contribute to the creation of a vibrant cultural and educational environment that fosters independent thought, supports the production of knowledge, fuels the imagination and creativity, and contributes to a Palestinian society based on justice, freedom, and dignity.

In the future, the Foundation's activities will be guided by two main central commitments. While they may appear straightforward, achieving them demands extensive collaboration and consistent effort:

First, the Foundation maintains that culture and education are the underlying modes to create meaning, develop collective capacity for endurance, to promote communal resilience, and to safeguard our humanity.

Second, the Foundation is committed to translating its organisational values into daily practices, increasing access to its programmes and spaces, strengthening principles of shared responsibility and solidarity, and ensuring operational readiness and resilience during times of crisis and emergencies.

The approach is anchored in six objectives that cover culture, education, and institutional growth: promoting cultural expression as a resource for identity building; strengthening educational models centred on children and educators; developing teaching approaches that ensure learning continuity in challenging environments; consolidating institutional governance based on transparency, clarity, and accountability; and improving resource diversification mechanisms to ensure long-term sustainability and independence.

In line with the Foundation’s focus on communities, audiences, and geographies, the implementation of this framework will take place through direct programming, collaborative initiatives, and grants. The Foundation's work involves children, educators, young artists and writers, local communities, and partner institutions, with a geographic presence that extends throughout Palestine and includes the Palestinian diaspora and is a critical space to consolidate connections and mutually exchange knowledge.

In sum, the Foundation’s new Strategic Framework reflects its commitment to structured work, responsive planning, and continuous learning through practice and field experience. The steps are designed to create a lasting, balanced impact on culture and education within a complex and rapidly evolving Palestinian and global context.
