Press Release: The A M Qattan Foundation’s Board of Trustees 2026 Semi-Annual Meeting in Amman

Amman - June 2026

The Board of Trustees of the A M Qattan Foundation held its 2026 semi-annual meeting in Amman for  two days on the 16th and 17th of June. The meeting was presided over by the chair, Professor Najwa Al-Qattan, and attended by Professor Khaled Fahmy, Dr. Waleed Gharaibeh,
Dr. Mezna Qato, Dr. Rabab Tamish, Omar Al-Qattan, and Yacoub Al-Yousef.  Attending remotely  were Dr. Suhad Bshara, Dr. Munir Fakher Eldin, and Dr. Hani Nigim.  Also attending were the members of the foundation’s executive team.

The board reviewed the work of the foundation’s programmes in the first half of 2026 and discussed the accomplishments, opportunities, and challenges attending its work in light of the rapid changes taking place in the education and cultural sectors in Palestine. The meeting took place at a juncture that coincided with the initiation of work on the foundation’s five-year strategic framework (2026-2030). This strategic framework was adopted by the board at the beginning of this year following a comprehensive review and evaluation of the foundation’s programmes and initiatives, including the experiences of its beneficiaries, audiences, and partners in relation to the foundation’s strategic priorities for the coming years.

It is in light of these strategic priorities that the board adopted a number of organizational arrangements intended to strengthen coordination across the foundation’s units and programmes and maximize the use of its knowledge, logistical, and material resources, with the objective of more efficiently and qualitatively impacting the education and cultural sectors in Palestine. Among the most prominent of the new arrangements is the reorganization of the foundation’s work along two central programmes: the first is the Education Programme, an enduring focus of the foundation’s strategic mission and involving an umbrella of educational initiatives that include early childhood education and teaching curricula for emancipatory and creative learning. The second programme is the Cultural Program comprising a number of initiatives, including Grants and Capacity Support, developing and producing cultural programmes and events, and enhancing community engagement. It is in the context of these new arrangements that the attendees welcomed Toleen Touq who will join the foundation’s team as Director of the Cultural Programme on August 1, 2026.

At the close of the meeting the Board of Trustees expressed its profound gratitude to all the foundation’s staff and partners for their excellent accomplishments and remarkable determination. The Board also asserted its confidence in the foundation’s continuing ability to live up to its mission of impacting the education and cultural sectors of all the communities it serves.
